What is 5-HTP?
5-HTP or 5-Hydroxytryptophan is derived from the essential amino acid, Tryptophan. As a dietary supplement, 5-HTP is made from the seeds of an African plant called Griffonia simplicifolia. Tryptophan and 5-HTP are precursors to the production of serotonin, a chemical in the brain that has a direct correlation to oneâ€™s mood and behavior by relaying signals between brain cells. 5-HTP supplements may have positive effects on sleep, anxiety and appetite. 
By increasing serotonin levels, research suggests that this supplement has a beneficial impact on mood by combatting high levels of stress and anxiety. 5-HTP has also been indicated to increase sleep quality, relieve headaches and migraines, reduce the frequency and severity of panic attacks, and to ease unipolar depression. 5-HTP packs a 1-2 punch and can also be used as a weight loss aid. Research shows that 5-HTP supplements are able to suppress the appetites of adults. As this supplement decreases stress levels, it also decreases cortisol levels, the stress hormone known for increasing appetite. 
5-HTP Side Effects
It is recommended to start with a lower dosage of 5-HTP to account for a build in tolerance. High dosages of this supplement can result nausea.
As per the label of this product, the recommended daily dose of 5-HTP is two level .15cc scoops (100mg) daily.
